PICTURED:  2024 Summer Staff

Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp welcomed 25 staff members for the summer. The group consists of many returning staff members as well as some new faces. Zach Kennell, Jesse Magill, and Anna Millsap joined the staff as the Wilderness Camp leaders for the summer. This year’s Resident Camp Program Staff included Andrew Graber and Naomi Kratzer as well as Sophie Chindamo who was in charge of music along with program duties. The staff consists of both current college students and recent college graduates. This summer’s staff traveled from all over for camp arriving from over 10 different colleges including Bethel College, Hesston College, Eastern Mennonite University, and Kansas State University. One staff member even arrived at camp from Hamburg, Germany.

This summer a new model for staffing was introduced at camp which allowed more flexibility and job variety for staffers. The new model placed all staff as counselors while also rotating them through support roles. All staff were assigned as counselors in each cabin. These counselors slept in the cabins with the campers for supervision along with attending and assisting with hikes, activities, and worships. Throughout the week staffers would also be assigned one or two support staff shifts to help with the behind the scenes aspects of camp life.

Staff members were also introduced to a new bonus along with the travel reimbursement program that began last summer. The travel reimbursement program works to help summer staffers pay for travel expenses to and from camp each summer. Camp reimburses up to $500 in travel expenses in the hope to lessen the impact of traveling to and from camp. Camp now offers a Full Summer Bonus as well which offers staffers an extra $500 if they commit to working the entire summer season for both youth and family camp programs (8 weeks).
