Spring weather here on the West side of Pikes Peak Massif frequently swings from days of spring to days of winter. The 18″ snow storm this week here at Rocky Mountain isn’t any more unique then the reality of most of the snow in the sun has already melted only 3 days later with temperature highs of 60 degrees. Impressively, the top of Pikes Peak received 5 feet of snow which will help keep the mountain streams flowing as it melts throughout the summer.
With this storm, the amount of snow received this winter has now exceeded our average of 120 inches with a total of 135 inches thus far. Grateful for the moisture which supports the life of plants and animals while also lessening the impact of drought and fire danger for the summer to come.
