We enjoyed another productive and meaningful Men’s Work & Play Retreat this year. The Bern Dining Hall renovation offered opportunities to make good progress, including but not limited to:
*installing the door
*mounting rafter bracing metal
*framing/installing windows in the dormer and peak.
A surprise project presented itself when, just before the weekend, a tree fell near the shop and over the main water line, which brings water from the camp springs, to the main camp. Thankfully, two feet of space remained when it fell. In falling, two other trees were hit and needed to be cut down as well due to the damage (See pictures below).
In Spirit timing, Paul Unruh (long-time camp sawyer volunteer) shared on “The Power of Service & Story: Past, Present and Future” as part of worship sessions. Participants offer the following appreciations from the weekend:
“Great, positive vibes”
“Paul’s input/storytelling and inspiration for us to share stories too”
“Super preparation and organization for volunteers”
“High quality accommodations”
“Food super as always”
“Fellowship – Great guys to work with”
“Super preparation and organization for volunteers”
