.Sr High Snow Camp

Sr.High Snow camp started with a much needed 3 inch snow storm that made for a winter wonderland for most of Saturday. Taking full advantage of the snow in the morning we took to the tube run and pond. As the day warmed up we had groups enjoy the scenery with hikes around camp that normally would be covered in snow. Then to we wrapped up the day with indoor activities, games and worship. Welcomed Trent Voth (Associate Professor of Bible and Religion at Bethel College) who shared on the theme “The Richness Within Biblical Texts” including the parables of the Treasure in the Field and Pearl Merchant, which look the same, but are actually foils of one another or looking at Jesus walking on the water in Mark 6 where a single sentence changes the focus of the story, “He intended to pass by them.”

Reflecting on the retreat, people mention how, despite it being only one full day of activities, it often feels more like 3-4 days. There’s endless opportunities for activities and adequate rest both accompanied with building connections that make the experience meaningful for all.

Things I appreciated:

“I love snowcamp & everything about it! The worship, energy & activities were Epic!” / “Balance between worship & free time. Music & choice of songs” / Getting to know people and make new friends with the staff and campers.” / “Deep sincerity of all staff & pesenters.”

About worship time:

“Trent spoke about things that are relevent to us tyring to interpret the Bible at this age” / “The song choices were very good and Trents speaking style was very good.” /

Other:

“Food = infinately good” / “I liked the salad bar a lot and the food was always good, a lot to choose from” / “Overall really fun and I love coming to snow camp and I’m glad I found out about this place. It makes me feel really light being here.”

Suggestions for the future:

“MAKE IT LONGER!!!” / “More decorations in bathrooms.”

As always, appreciation to youth, sponsors, young adults and staff which made for a fun and meaningful weekends for all! Please visit the Rocky Mountain FaceBook and Instagram pages along with additional photos on the Rocky Mountain FaceBook Album Page.
